A delicious twist on two comfort food favorites, combining the cheesy goodness of grilled cheese with the hearty filling of sloppy joes.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices sandwich bread
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
- Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place four slices, butter-side down, in a skillet or griddle.
- Top each with shredded cheddar, a generous scoop of sloppy joe mixture, more cheese, and another slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Cook over medium heat until golden brown and the cheese is melted, flipping once (about 3–4 minutes per side).
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
- Use American cheese or mozzarella for variation.
- Can be made with ground turkey or plant-based meat alternatives.
- Great for using leftover sloppy joe filling.
