Perfect for hot summer days, this easy-to-make beverage offers customizable sweetness and optional creamy toppings for a delightful coffee experience.
Ingredients
Frappe Base
- 2 teaspoons instant coffee (preferably Nescafé)
- 1/4 cup cold water (for shaking)
- Sugar to taste (optional)
Serving
- 3/4 cup cold water or milk (or a mix)
- 2–3 ice cubes
- Evaporated milk or cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare Coffee Foam: In a shaker, jar with a tight lid, or handheld frother, combine the instant coffee, 1/4 cup cold water, and sugar if using. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until a thick, foamy layer forms on top.
- Fill Glass with Ice: Place 2–3 ice cubes into a tall glass ready to receive the frappe.
- Assemble the Drink: Pour the thick coffee foam carefully over the ice-filled glass. Then top with the remaining 3/4 cup cold water, milk, or a combination of both.
- Mix Gently: Stir gently to combine the foam with the liquid below without losing the frothy texture.
- Add Cream (Optional): For an extra creamy touch, add a splash of evaporated milk or cream on top of the drink.
- Serve: Insert a straw and serve immediately for a refreshing, chilled coffee treat.
Notes
- Adjust sugar levels according to preference: “sketos” means no sugar; “metrios” is 1–2 teaspoons; and “glykos” is sweet with 2 or more teaspoons.
- For less vigorous shaking, use a handheld milk frother or blender to create the foam.
