Ingredients
Jasmine Rice:
1 cup jasmine rice, rinsed
Butter Mixture:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon olive oil
Onion Mixture:
1 medium yellow onion, finely diced, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt
Liquid:
1 3/4 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth
Garnish:
Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Butter Onion Mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the olive oil. Add the diced onion and cook until soft and golden brown.
- Add Spices and Rice: Stir in turmeric, garlic powder, and salt. Add the rinsed jasmine rice and toast, stirring to coat the grains.
- Cook the Rice: Pour in the water or broth and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until tender.
