Ingredients
Shrimp and Marinade
- 2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Garnish
- Parsley, for garnish
- Juice of one lemon
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400ºF to ensure it reaches the right temperature for perfectly baked shrimp.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick spray to prevent the shrimp from sticking during cooking.
- Make Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, basil, onion powder, shredded parmesan cheese, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well to create a flavorful coating.
- Coat Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade bowl. Gently toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated with the garlic Parmesan mixture.
- Arrange Shrimp: Lay the coated shrimp in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they are spread out evenly for uniform cooking.
- Bake Shrimp: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the shrimp are firm, opaque, and pink.
- Finish and Garnish: Remove the shrimp from the oven and immediately squeeze the juice of one lemon over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- Use large shrimp for best flavor and texture.
- Be careful not to overcook the shrimp as they can become rubbery.
- Freshly minced garlic provides the best aroma but garlic powder can be substituted if needed.
- Serve with crusty bread or over pasta for a complete meal.
- Parmesan cheese adds a savory, cheesy flavor that complements the herbs and shrimp perfectly.
