Ingredients
Chicken and Seasoning
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Creamy Sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare and Season Chicken: Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Sear Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken for 2 to 3 minutes per side until lightly golden. Transfer the seared chicken to the prepared baking dish.
- Make Creamy Sauce: In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, mayonnaise, sour cream, 3/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- Assemble for Baking: Spread the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken breasts. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top, then dust lightly with paprika.
- Bake Chicken: Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the top is bubbly and golden.
- Optional Broil: For extra browning, broil for 2 to 3 minutes at the end while watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Rest and Garnish: Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream.
- You can add steamed broccoli or spinach to the baking dish for a complete one-pan meal.
- Leftovers reheat well and can be sliced for sandwiches or wraps.
