Description

This Garlic Flatbread recipe is a simple and flavorful homemade bread, perfect as a side for soups, dips, or curries. Made with all-purpose flour, Greek yogurt, and infused with garlic butter, these skillet-cooked flatbreads are quick and easy to prepare, offering a soft texture with a delicious garlicky finish. Ideal for Mediterranean-inspired meals or as a versatile bread option.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)

Flavorings

  • 23 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the plain Greek yogurt and olive oil until the dough comes together.
  2. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth. Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes to relax the gluten.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: While the dough rests, combine the melted butter with the minced garlic in a small bowl and set aside.
  4. Shape the Flatbreads: Divide the rested dough into 6 to 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin oval or round shape, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Cook the Flatbreads: Heat a nonstick skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat. Cook each flatbread for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or until golden spots appear and the bread puffs slightly.
  6. Brush with Garlic Butter: Immediately brush the warm flatbreads with the prepared garlic butter, and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
  7. Serve: Serve the garlic flatbreads warm as a side for soups, dips, curries, or enjoy them on their own.

Notes

  • Great as a side for soups, dips, or curries.
  • To make this recipe dairy-free, substitute Greek yogurt with a dairy-free yogurt alternative and use plant-based butter instead of regular butter.
