Description
This Garlic Butter Shrimp and Rice Stack is a quick and elegant dish combining succulent, garlic-infused shrimp with fragrant buttered rice, perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The shrimp are sautéed in a flavorful garlic butter sauce with a hint of lemon and crushed red pepper flakes for a subtle kick, then beautifully stacked over fluffy jasmine rice and garnished with fresh parsley and lemon wedges.
Ingredients
Shrimp and Sauce
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Rice and Garnish
- 2 cups cooked white rice (or jasmine rice for extra flavor)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the garlic butter sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, careful not to burn the garlic. Add crushed red pepper flakes if using and lemon juice; stir to combine.
- Form the rice stacks: Divide cooked rice into four portions. Using a small bowl or round mold, press each portion firmly into the bottom to form compact stacks. Carefully remove the rice stacks and place them on serving plates.
- Assemble the dish: Top each rice stack with cooked shrimp and spoon the garlic butter sauce evenly over the shrimp.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the shrimp and rice stacks. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an added burst of citrus flavor.
Notes
- Use jasmine rice for extra aroma and flavor.
- Adjust crushed red pepper flakes to taste or omit for no heat.
- Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
- Peeling and deveining shrimp beforehand saves prep time.
- Can be served with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
