Description

These Garlic Butter Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and packed with a rich garlic butter flavor. Perfect as a side for any meal or for holiday gatherings, these homemade rolls are easy to make and topped with a fragrant blend of melted butter, fresh garlic, and parsley.

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, room temperature

Topping Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy to activate the yeast mixture.
  2. Mix dough: Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until combined. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball.
  6. Second rise: Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake rolls: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 18 to 22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare garlic butter: While the rolls bake, mix the melted butter with minced garlic, parsley, and salt thoroughly.
  9. Brush rolls: Once the rolls are warm out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture before serving.

Notes

  • These rolls are best served warm to enjoy their soft texture and flavorful topping.
  • You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight; just bring it to room temperature before the second rise and baking.
  • Feel free to adjust the garlic amount in the topping to your preference.
  • These dinner rolls freeze well; reheat gently in the oven before serving.
