Ingredients
Dough Ingredients
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, room temperature
Topping Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Activate yeast: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy to activate the yeast mixture.
- Mix dough: Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until combined. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball.
- Second rise: Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake rolls: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 18 to 22 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare garlic butter: While the rolls bake, mix the melted butter with minced garlic, parsley, and salt thoroughly.
- Brush rolls: Once the rolls are warm out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture before serving.
Notes
- These rolls are best served warm to enjoy their soft texture and flavorful topping.
- You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight; just bring it to room temperature before the second rise and baking.
- Feel free to adjust the garlic amount in the topping to your preference.
- These dinner rolls freeze well; reheat gently in the oven before serving.
