Description

A hearty one-pan wonder: richly seasoned ground beef and fluffy rice bathed in a velvety garlic butter sauce—perfect for a comforting weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or 85/15)
  • 1 cup long‑grain white rice
  • 46 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium‑high, brown the ground beef until deeply caramelized. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  2. Add half the butter to the same pan. Sauté onion for 2–3 min until soft, then add garlic and cook 1 min until fragrant.
  3. Stir in rice and toast for 2–3 min, coating each grain with the butter-onion mixture.
  4. Return beef to skillet. Pour in beef broth and soy sauce, scraping up browned bits.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook 15–18 min until rice is tender and liquid absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in remaining butter and parsley. Fluff with a fork before serving.

Notes

  • Add vegetables (bell pepper, peas, carrots, spinach) when you add the rice for extra nutrition.
  • Use brown rice—add an extra ½ cup broth and extend cook time by 10–15 min.
  • Freeze in portions for up to 3 months; reheat gently with extra broth to restore creaminess.
