Description
A hearty one-pan wonder: richly seasoned ground beef and fluffy rice bathed in a velvety garlic butter sauce—perfect for a comforting weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or 85/15)
- 1 cup long‑grain white rice
- 4–6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium‑high, brown the ground beef until deeply caramelized. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- Add half the butter to the same pan. Sauté onion for 2–3 min until soft, then add garlic and cook 1 min until fragrant.
- Stir in rice and toast for 2–3 min, coating each grain with the butter-onion mixture.
- Return beef to skillet. Pour in beef broth and soy sauce, scraping up browned bits.
- Bring to a simmer, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook 15–18 min until rice is tender and liquid absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in remaining butter and parsley. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Add vegetables (bell pepper, peas, carrots, spinach) when you add the rice for extra nutrition.
- Use brown rice—add an extra ½ cup broth and extend cook time by 10–15 min.
- Freeze in portions for up to 3 months; reheat gently with extra broth to restore creaminess.
