Description

A crispy, golden garlic bread sandwich stuffed with melty mozzarella and sharp cheddar—quick, comforting, and bursting with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick sourdough or Italian bread
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Pinch of salt (optional, if using unsalted butter)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley. Add salt if using unsalted butter.
  2. Spread the garlic butter on one side of each bread slice. Place bread slices butter-side-down on a clean surface.
  3. Layer mozzarella and cheddar cheese on one of the unbuttered sides, then top with another slice, buttered side out.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Grill sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  5. Remove from heat, let rest 1 minute, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for heat.
  • Swap parsley with basil, rosemary, or thyme for different flavor profiles.
  • Add meats like bacon, prosciutto, or pepperoni for a heartier sandwich.
  • Use plant-based butter and vegan cheese for a vegan version. Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy depth.
  • Shred your own cheese for the best melt.
