Description
A crispy, golden garlic bread sandwich stuffed with melty mozzarella and sharp cheddar—quick, comforting, and bursting with flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 slices thick sourdough or Italian bread
- 4 tablespoons softened butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Pinch of salt (optional, if using unsalted butter)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley. Add salt if using unsalted butter.
- Spread the garlic butter on one side of each bread slice. Place bread slices butter-side-down on a clean surface.
- Layer mozzarella and cheddar cheese on one of the unbuttered sides, then top with another slice, buttered side out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Grill sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, let rest 1 minute, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- Add red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for heat.
- Swap parsley with basil, rosemary, or thyme for different flavor profiles.
- Add meats like bacon, prosciutto, or pepperoni for a heartier sandwich.
- Use plant-based butter and vegan cheese for a vegan version. Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy depth.
- Shred your own cheese for the best melt.
