Description

Enjoy a refreshing and indulgent treat with these Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas. Ripe banana slices are dipped in smooth melted dark chocolate and optionally sprinkled with your favorite toppings before being frozen to create a delightful, easy-to-make dessert perfect for warm days or anytime you need a sweet, healthy snack.

Ingredients

Bananas

  • 2 medium ripe bananas

Chocolate Coating

  • 6 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil

Optional Toppings

  • Flaky salt
  • Sprinkles
  • Nuts
  • Shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds approximately 1/2-inch thick. Set these slices aside on a clean plate or tray for easy access during dipping.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Using a double boiler method, gently melt the dark chocolate together with the canola oil. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth, glossy, and fully combined.
  3. Coat Bananas: Dip each banana slice into the melted chocolate ensuring it is completely coated. Use a fork or skewer to help fully submerge the slices.
  4. Freeze: Place the chocolate-covered banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Optionally, sprinkle your choice of flaky salt, sprinkles, nuts, or shredded coconut over the top for added texture and flavor.
  5. Freeze Again: Transfer the baking sheet to the freezer and freeze the coated bananas for at least 2 hours or until the chocolate has hardened and the bananas are thoroughly frozen.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas for best texture that holds up well during freezing and dipping.
  • The canola oil helps the chocolate to melt smoothly and gives a nice shine to the coating.
  • Optional toppings add extra flavor and crunch but can be omitted for a simple treat.
  • Store chocolate-covered bananas in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 week.
  • If you don’t have a double boiler, melt the chocolate gently in a microwave using 20-second bursts, stirring in between to avoid burning.
