Ingredients

For Fried Chicken:

  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 lbs russet potatoes (peeled and chopped)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Fried Chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Marinate chicken thighs for at least 1 hour. Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Heat oil, dredge chicken in flour, and fry until golden brown.
  2. Mashed Potatoes: Boil potatoes until tender, drain, and mash with butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Serve fried chicken with mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • For crispier chicken, double-dip in buttermilk and flour mixture.
  • Add roasted garlic or cream cheese to mashed potatoes for extra flavor.
