Ingredients
Cream Cheese Filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Roll-Ups:
- 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
- Oil for frying (such as vegetable or canola)
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or fresh berries
Instructions
- Cream Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Roll-Ups: Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin until thin. Spread about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture along one edge of each slice and roll tightly into a log.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together. Heat 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat until hot (about 350°F).
- Working in batches, fry the roll-ups seam-side down for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with tongs and immediately roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve warm with optional toppings like whipped cream or fresh berries.
Notes
- You can bake these instead of frying—just brush with melted butter, roll in cinnamon sugar, and bake at 375°F for 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Try adding a slice of strawberry or banana inside each roll before frying for a fruity twist.
