Description

A hearty and flavorful dish, French Onion Beef and Noodles is a comforting one-pot meal that combines savory ground beef with tender egg noodles in a rich French onion soup broth. Finished with a creamy touch of sour cream and garnished with fresh parsley, this stovetop favorite is sure to become a family dinner staple.

Ingredients

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Broth and Noodles:

  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed French onion soup
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can beef consommé or beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 8 ounces egg noodles

Additional:

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ground Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook onions until soft and golden. Add garlic and ground beef; cook until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Simmer: Stir in French onion soup, beef consommé, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Add Noodles: Stir in egg noodles, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes until tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Finish: Remove from heat, stir in sour cream, and season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream with the sour cream.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for a lighter version.
  • Serve with crusty bread or a green salad on the side.
