Description

These French Dip Biscuits are a delicious twist on the classic sandwich. Flaky biscuits filled with tender roast beef, caramelized onions, and gooey cheese, served with warm au jus for dipping. Perfect for a cozy appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Biscuits:

  • 1 can refrigerated flaky biscuits (8 count)

Filling:

  • 1/2 pound deli roast beef, sliced thin
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can beef consommé or beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a muffin tin.
  2. Caramelize onions: In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and caramelized. Add garlic, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce; cook for another minute. Remove from heat.
  3. Prepare biscuits: Split each biscuit in half and press into muffin cups. Layer with roast beef, onion mixture, and cheese. Top with the other biscuit half and press gently to seal.
  4. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Prepare au jus: Heat beef consommé or broth with black pepper until warm.
  6. Serve: Serve biscuits hot with warm au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use leftover roast beef instead of deli slices.
  • Swiss cheese can be a tasty alternative.
  • Best served warm but can be reheated in the oven.
