Ingredients
Cake:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs

- 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan or springform pan.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- Combine wet and dry mixtures: Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
- Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Let the cake cool before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
