Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 (10-ounce) bag mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (for topping)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter drizzle or melted peanut butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Dish. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray and set it aside to prevent sticking.
- Melt Butter and Marshmallows. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and form a smooth mixture.
- Add Peanut Butter and Vanilla. Stir in the creamy peanut butter until fully incorporated with the marshmallows. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Combine with Cereal. Quickly pour the warm marshmallow-peanut butter mixture over the crispy rice cereal in a large mixing bowl. Stir swiftly to ensure the cereal is evenly coated.
- Press Mixture into Dish. Transfer the coated cereal mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a greased spatula or a piece of wax paper to press and smooth the top evenly.
- Add Optional Toppings. If desired, sprinkle additional mini marshmallows on top and lightly press them into the surface for extra texture. Drizzle melted peanut butter over the top for added flavor.
- Let Treats Set. Allow the treats to cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes until firm.
- Slice and Serve. Once set, cut the mixture into squares and serve as a delicious snack or dessert.
Notes
- Use creamy peanut butter for the best texture and blend with marshmallows.
- To make cutting easier, lightly grease the knife or use a plastic knife.
- The treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For a nut-free version, you can substitute the peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
- Press toppings gently to avoid squashing the treats.
