Description

A classic Espresso Martini cocktail combining rich espresso, smooth vodka, and coffee liqueur with a hint of hazelnut, shaken to perfection to create a creamy foam layer and garnished with coffee beans for an elegant finish.

Ingredients

Liquids

  • 1 ½ ounces good quality vodka (like Ketel One)
  • 1 ½ ounces coffee liqueur (like Mr Black)
  • 1 ½ ounces espresso (cooled)
  • ½ ounce hazelnut liqueur (like Frangelico) or simple syrup

Others

  • 2 or 3 large ice cubes
  • Coffee beans (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shaker: Add 3 large ice cubes to a large metal cocktail shaker to chill and help properly dilute the drink as it is shaken.
  2. Add ingredients: Pour in the vodka, coffee liqueur, cooled espresso, and hazelnut liqueur or simple syrup into the shaker over the ice.
  3. Shake well: Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds to combine ingredients and create a frothy top layer.
  4. Strain the cocktail: Strain the shaken mixture into a chilled martini or coupe glass to serve.
  5. Develop the foam layer: Let the drink rest for approximately 30 seconds in the glass to allow the creamy foam layer to form on top.
  6. Garnish and serve: Garnish with coffee beans on the foam for a classic presentation, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso and let it cool to avoid melting the ice too quickly and diluting the drink.
  • Hazelnut liqueur can be substituted with simple syrup for a less nutty but still sweet flavor.
  • Chilling the martini glass beforehand helps maintain the cocktail’s temperature longer.
  • Shaking vigorously is key to producing the signature creamy foam layer on top of the espresso martini.
