Description

Elf Snack Mix is a sweet, crunchy, and fun treat perfect for holiday gatherings. Combining pretzel twists, Chex cereal, mini marshmallows, and festive M&M’s coated in a creamy white chocolate and peanut butter mixture, this no-bake snack is quick to prepare and sure to delight both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Snack Mix

  • 3 cups pretzel twists
  • 3 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn)
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup mini M&M’s (or holiday M&M’s)

Coating

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Red and green sprinkles (optional for extra holiday cheer)

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, toss together the pretzel twists, Chex cereal, mini marshmallows, and mini M&M’s until evenly mixed. Set the bowl aside.
  2. Melt white chocolate and peanut butter: Place the white chocolate chips and peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each one, until the mixture is completely smooth and combined.
  3. Add vanilla extract: Stir in the vanilla extract into the melted white chocolate and peanut butter mixture to enhance the flavor.
  4. Coat the snack mix: Pour the melted white chocolate mixture over the prepared snack mix. Gently toss the contents with a spatula or spoon to coat all the pieces evenly without breaking them.
  5. Spread to cool: Transfer the coated snack mix onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it out evenly. This helps it cool and set properly.
  6. Add finishing touches: Once slightly cooled but still pliable, sprinkle powdered sugar over the snack mix and toss gently to distribute. Add red and green sprinkles if desired for a festive holiday look.
  7. Let it set completely: Allow the snack mix to cool fully at room temperature until the coating is firm. Once set, break into clusters if needed and serve.

Notes

  • You can substitute the white chocolate chips with almond bark or vanilla melting wafers if preferred.
  • For a nut-free version, replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness and crunch.
  • Feel free to add other festive mix-ins like candy canes or dried cranberries for extra flavor and texture.
