Description

Learn how to make delicious and easy turkey gravy at home with this simple recipe. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any roast dinner!

Ingredients

    Roux:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Gravy:

  • 2 cups turkey drippings or low-sodium turkey/chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional dash of Worcestershire sauce or a splash of cream for added flavor

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  2. Gradually whisk in the turkey drippings or broth, making sure there are no lumps.
  3. Add the onion powder and garlic powder, and bring the gravy to a gentle simmer.
  4. Continue cooking and stirring for 4–5 minutes until thickened to your desired consistency.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. For added depth, stir in a dash of Worcestershire sauce or a splash of cream before serving.

Notes

  • If your drippings are very salty, use a mix of drippings and unsalted broth.
  • Gravy can be made ahead and gently reheated before serving.
  • Add more broth if it becomes too thick.
