Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Add-ins
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, creamy peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix these ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat the eggs and vanilla extract into the peanut butter mixture until everything is well combined and the batter becomes smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to ensure even distribution of leavening.
- Incorporate dry into wet: Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet peanut butter mixture. Mix until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Fold in chocolate chips: Gently fold the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the batter to evenly distribute the chocolate throughout.
- Spread batter and bake: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 16 bars for serving.
Notes
- For extra texture, stir in chopped peanuts or swirl additional peanut butter into the batter before baking.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
