Ingredients
Meat Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
Cheese Mixture:
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Additional Ingredients:
- 9 oven-ready lasagna noodles
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the meat: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer.
- Prepare the cheese mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan until combined.
- Assemble the lasagna: Spread meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish, layer with noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly.
- Rest and garnish: Let the lasagna rest before slicing. Garnish with parsley if desired.
