Description

Learn how to make these easy homemade churros with a rich chocolate sauce. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect for dipping!

Ingredients

Churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Chocolate Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Churro Dough: In a medium saucepan, bring water, sugar, salt, and butter to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool slightly.
  2. Make the Churros: Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla, until smooth. Transfer dough to a piping bag and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  3. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: Roll warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  4. Prepare the Chocolate Sauce: Heat cream, pour over chopped chocolate, stir in butter and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Serve: Enjoy warm churros with chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, fry churros in small batches without overcrowding the pan.
  • Churros are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes.
