Ingredients
Churros:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Chocolate Sauce:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Churro Dough: In a medium saucepan, bring water, sugar, salt, and butter to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool slightly.
- Make the Churros: Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla, until smooth. Transfer dough to a piping bag and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: Roll warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Prepare the Chocolate Sauce: Heat cream, pour over chopped chocolate, stir in butter and vanilla until smooth.
- Serve: Enjoy warm churros with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, fry churros in small batches without overcrowding the pan.
- Churros are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes.
