Description

This easy guacamole recipe delivers the classic creamy, chunky dip with just a handful of fresh ingredients. With ripe avocados, zesty lime juice, and a crisp blend of chopped onion, tomato, and cilantro, it’s the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, seeded and diced
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional)

Seasoning

  • 1 lime, juiced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados – Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl. Use a fork to mash the avocado to your preferred texture—some like it smooth, others prefer chunky.
  2. Add Fresh Ingredients – Mix in the finely chopped red onion, diced tomato, minced garlic, cilantro, and jalapeño (if using). Gently fold until the ingredients are evenly distributed without overmixing.
  3. Season the Guacamole – Pour in the fresh lime juice, sprinkle the salt and black pepper over the mixture, and gently stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more lime or salt to brighten the flavors.
  4. Serve – Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or cover tightly with plastic wrap to prevent browning if making ahead.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the creamiest guacamole.
  • For a milder dip, omit the jalapeño or remove the seeds.
  • Cover any leftovers with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to minimize browning.
  • This guacamole is best enjoyed fresh but will keep in the fridge for up to 1 day.
