Description

Easy Glazed Carrots are a quick and vibrant side dish featuring tender carrots in a sweet-savory buttery glaze perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh carrots, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds or diagonals
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley or thyme for garnish

Instructions

  1. Scrub or peel carrots and slice them into even pieces about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Place carrots in a skillet with 1/4 cup water and a pinch of salt. Simmer over medium heat with the lid slightly ajar for 7–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender but not mushy. Drain any excess water.
  3. Add butter, brown sugar, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to coat carrots evenly. Let the mixture bubble gently for 2–3 minutes until a glossy glaze forms.
  4. Toss carrots in the glaze until fully coated. Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed. Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh herbs or citrus zest.

Notes

  • Garnish with parsley, thyme, orange zest, or toasted nuts for extra flair.
  • Pairs well with roast chicken, ham, salmon, or mashed potatoes.
  • Arrange carrots neatly on a platter or pile high in a rustic bowl for presentation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze cooled glazed carrots in a single layer, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat on the stovetop with a splash of water or butter to restore shine.
  • Use baby carrots for convenience; adjust cook time as needed.
  • Make dairy-free by substituting plant-based butter or coconut oil.
  • Honey can replace brown sugar—start with 1 tbsp and adjust to taste.
