Description

These Easy French Dip Sliders are a delicious, crowd-pleasing appetizer or meal featuring tender roast beef and melted provolone cheese on soft Hawaiian sweet rolls, baked to golden perfection and served with warm, savory au jus for dipping. Perfectly balanced flavors and simple preparation make these sliders a favorite for casual gatherings and family dinners.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1.5 lbs thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese (or Swiss cheese)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: caramelized onions

Au Jus

  • 4 cups beef broth (or consommé)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Prepare Rolls: Slice the sheet of Hawaiian sweet rolls horizontally through the middle to create top and bottom halves. Place the bottom halves evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer Ingredients: Spread half of the thinly sliced roast beef evenly over the bottom halves of the rolls. If using, add a layer of caramelized onions over the beef. Next, place half of the provolone cheese slices on top. Repeat these layers with the remaining roast beef and cheese. Finally, cover with the top halves of the rolls.
  4. Make Butter Mixture & Brush: In a small bowl, mix melted unsalted butter with minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Generously brush this flavorful mixture over the tops of the slider buns to ensure a savory and golden finish.
  5. Bake Sliders: Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the tops of the buns are nicely golden brown.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the sliders bake, in a medium saucepan, combine beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low to keep warm until serving.
  7. Serve: Remove sliders from the oven and slice between each roll. Serve immediately with warm au jus on the side for dipping, enhancing every bite with rich, savory flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute Swiss cheese if provolone is unavailable or preferred.
  • For extra flavor, caramelized onions can be added between the beef layers, but they are optional.
  • Keep the au jus warm on low heat while the sliders bake to serve it hot.
  • These sliders are ideal for parties or casual dinners and can be customized with your favorite roast beef deli meat.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven.
