Description

Enjoy the ultimate comfort food with these easy creamy mashed potatoes. They’re rich, velvety, and perfectly seasoned, making them a classic side dish for any occasion.

Ingredients

Potatoes:

  • 3 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
  • 1 tablespoon salt (for boiling)

For Mashing:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (warmed)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish:

  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil Potatoes: Place the potato chunks in a large pot, cover with cold water, add 1 tablespoon of salt, and boil until fork-tender.
  2. Mash Potatoes: Drain well, return to pot, add butter, and mash until smooth. Stir in warm milk, sour cream, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  3. Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm, garnished with chives or parsley.

Notes

  • For extra richness, use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • To make ahead, store in the fridge and reheat with a splash of milk or butter.
