This Easy Chicken Noodle Casserole is a comforting, creamy baked dish perfect for a quick family dinner. It combines tender cooked egg noodles, shredded chicken, flavorful cheese, and veggies all baked together with a crunchy buttery cracker topping for added texture and flavor.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked egg noodles
- 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Topping
- 1 cup crushed buttery crackers
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking and to help with even cooking.
- Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine cooked egg noodles, shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, thawed peas and carrots, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well until evenly incorporated.
- Assemble casserole: Spread the combined mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish to ensure uniform cooking and layering.
- Add topping: If using the optional topping, mix the crushed buttery crackers with melted butter until the crackers are coated. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the casserole for a crunchy, golden crust.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the casserole is hot, bubbly around the edges, and the topping is golden brown.
- Rest and serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the dish to set and cool slightly for easier serving.
Notes
- Use freshly cooked noodles to prevent them from becoming too mushy during baking.
- Feel free to substitute frozen peas and carrots with any other frozen mixed vegetables you prefer.
- The crackers topping adds a nice texture but can be omitted for a softer casserole.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
