Description
This Easy Bruschetta Recipe is a classic Italian appetizer featuring toasted baguette slices topped with a flavorful mixture of diced tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, and balsamic vinegar. It’s a perfect starter for any meal or a great addition to a party spread.
Ingredients
For the Bruschetta:
- 1 French baguette (sliced into ½-inch pieces)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
For the Tomato Topping:
- 4 ripe Roma tomatoes (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- ¼ cup fresh basil (chopped)
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 clove garlic (halved, for rubbing bread)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the baguette: Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
- Make the tomato topping: In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently and let sit for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
- Assemble the bruschetta: Once the bread is toasted, rub each slice with the cut side of a halved garlic clove. Spoon the tomato mixture on top of each slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- Add a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan or crumbled feta for a cheesy twist.
- This bruschetta is best enjoyed fresh but the tomato topping can be made a few hours ahead.
