Description

This easy banana bread recipe is a classic favorite that’s moist, flavorful, and perfect for using up ripe bananas. With simple ingredients and straightforward instructions, you’ll have a delicious loaf in no time.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon if using. Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir just until combined.
  4. Add optional mix-ins: Fold in the nuts or chocolate chips, if using.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, use overripe bananas with brown spots.
  • Add a sprinkle of raw sugar or cinnamon sugar on top before baking for a sweet crust.
  • This banana bread also freezes well for up to 3 months.
