Ingredients
Potatoes
- 3 large russet potatoes, chopped
Seasoning and Oil
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp ranch seasoning mix
- Garlic powder, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Salt, a pinch
Cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or non-stick foil for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the potatoes: In a large bowl, toss the chopped potatoes with olive oil until evenly coated, then mix in the ranch seasoning to ensure every piece is flavorful.
- Season the potatoes: Spread the potatoes evenly on the prepared baking sheet without overlapping. Sprinkle garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt evenly over the top.
- Bake covered: Cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for 20 minutes to begin cooking the potatoes while retaining moisture.
- Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 minutes, allowing the potatoes to become tender and get lightly browned and crispy on the edges.
- Add the cheese: Remove the potatoes from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over them.
- Melt the cheese: Return the potatoes to the oven for 1-2 minutes until the cheese has melted and is bubbly, then remove and serve hot.
Notes
- Use russet potatoes for the best texture and flavor.
- Adjust ranch seasoning amount to your taste preference.
- Covering the potatoes initially helps them cook evenly and stay moist.
- For extra crispiness, bake uncovered for a little longer if desired.
- This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled for larger gatherings.
