Description

This festive Easter Dirt Cake is a fun and delicious dessert perfect for spring celebrations. Creamy and sweet, it layers Oreo cookie crumbs with a smooth vanilla pudding and cream cheese filling, topped with fluffy whipped topping and colorful Easter candies for a playful dirt-and-egg effect.

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1 package Oreos (divided)

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 16 oz Cool Whip
  • 2 boxes instant vanilla pudding (3.3 oz each)
  • 3 cups milk

Topping

  • Easter candy (e.g., Peeps marshmallow chicks, Robin eggs, sprinkles) for decoration

Instructions

  1. Crush Cookies: Divide the Oreo cookies into two portions. Crush one portion finely to resemble dirt for layering. Set aside the other portion for garnish or layering in bigger chunks.
  2. Prepare Pudding: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mixes and 3 cups cold milk until the pudding sets, about 2 minutes. Refrigerate while preparing the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, softened butter, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Fold in half of the Cool Whip until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the prepared vanilla pudding into the cream cheese mixture until smooth and well blended.
  5. Layer Dessert: In a large trifle bowl or 9×13 inch dish, start layering by sprinkling a layer of crushed Oreos, followed by a layer of the pudding-cream cheese mixture. Repeat layers, ending with a generous layer of crushed Oreos on top.
  6. Top and Decorate: Spread the remaining Cool Whip over the top layer. Decorate with Easter candies such as Peeps, Robin eggs, and sprinkles to resemble a fun Easter dirt patch with eggs.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled Dirt Cake for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set.

Notes

  • For best texture, soften the cream cheese and butter completely before mixing.
  • You can use any Easter-themed candy or gummy decorations to personalize this dessert.
  • This dessert is best served chilled and consumed within 2-3 days.
  • To make it easier to serve, use a clear trifle bowl to showcase the layered effect.
  • If you prefer, substitute low-fat cream cheese and Cool Whip for a lighter version.
