Ingredients
Crust and Base
- 1 15.5 oz package Oreo cookies, crushed
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
Filling
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 12 oz Cool Whip, thawed
Toppings
- 1 cup Easter M&M’s
- 20 PEEP marshmallows
- Edible green grass (optional)
Instructions
- Cream Butter, Cream Cheese, and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, softened cream cheese, and powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Set aside.
- Prepare Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk the milk with the instant chocolate pudding mix until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
- Combine Pudding and Cream Cheese Mixture: Pour the prepared pudding into the cream cheese mixture. Beat together until fully combined, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl for an even mixture.
- Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into the pudding and cream cheese mixture to keep the filling light and fluffy.
- Assemble Cake: In a 9×13 inch dish, press half of the crushed Oreo cookies firmly into the bottom to create the base layer. Spoon and spread the pudding filling evenly over the cookie layer. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreo cookies evenly over the top of the filling.
- Chill: Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the dessert to set and the flavors to meld.
- Decorate and Serve: Before serving, sprinkle the top of the cake with Easter M&M’s for a colorful touch. Place one PEEP marshmallow on each slice for decoration, and optionally add edible green grass for a festive presentation.
Notes
- Make sure the butter and cream cheese are softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
- For best results, crush the Oreo cookies finely but not into powder to maintain some texture.
- This dessert can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Substitute Cool Whip with homemade whipped cream for a fresher option if desired.
- Adding edible green grass is optional but adds a charming springtime aesthetic.
