Description

Indulge in the rich, chocolatey goodness of these Dutch Cocoa Cookies. This easy recipe yields soft and chewy cookies that are perfect for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional:

  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, Dutch-process cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla until combined.
  4. Mix the dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Bake: Scoop dough onto the baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  6. Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for a richer flavor.
  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt before baking for a gourmet touch.
