Description

This Double Crunch Honey Garlic Chicken recipe is a delightful combination of crispy fried chicken coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. The chicken is double-coated for extra crunch, making it a favorite for dinner or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally. Marinate in buttermilk. Combine dry ingredients for coating.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Dip chicken in flour mixture, egg wash, and flour again. Fry until golden brown.
  3. Make the Sauce: Combine honey, garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper. Thicken with cornstarch slurry.
  4. Serve: Drizzle sauce over fried chicken or use as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, let the breaded chicken rest before frying.
  • Bake at 400°F for a lighter version (20–25 minutes).
