Ingredients
Cookie Bars:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mix wet ingredients: Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract, mix well.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture and mix to form a dough.
- Add chocolate chips: Fold in semisweet and white chocolate chips.
- Bake: Press dough into pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are set and center is slightly soft.
- Cool and cut: Let the bars cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For gooey bars, slightly underbake and allow them to finish setting as they cool.
- Enhance flavor by sprinkling sea salt on top before baking.
