Description

Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese is a tangy twist on the classic comfort food. Featuring gooey melted cheese, crispy golden bread, and crunchy dill pickle slices, this sandwich is bursting with bold flavor and texture. It’s easy to make and perfect for lunch, dinner, or a savory snack.

Ingredients

Bread and Butter

  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter (softened)

Cheeses

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or sliced)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or Monterey Jack)

Pickles and Seasonings

  • 68 dill pickle slices (patted dry)
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill (optional)
  • Pinch of garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice to ensure a golden, crispy exterior when cooked.
  2. Assemble the sandwich: Place two bread slices butter side down on a skillet or griddle. Evenly distribute half the cheddar and half the mozzarella cheeses over the bread, then add the dill pickle slices. Sprinkle with dried dill and garlic powder if using, then top with the remaining bread slices, butter side up.
  3. Cook the sandwich: Heat over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
  4. Rest and serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for 1 minute to set. Slice and serve immediately for the best melty, crisp experience.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut or sandwich-style pickles for best texture.
  • For extra flavor, add a swipe of Dijon mustard inside the sandwich.
  • Serve with tomato soup or potato chips for a classic pairing.
