Description

These Dill Pickle Chip Mozza Sticks are a fun twist on classic mozzarella sticks, featuring a crispy coating made with crushed dill pickle chips. They can be baked, air-fried, or fried to golden perfection, offering a cheesy, tangy, and flavorful appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

Cheese Sticks:

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese), halved

Coating:

  • 1 cup crushed dill pickle chips (or dill pickle-flavored potato chips)
  • ½ cup plain or dill-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Others:

  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • cooking spray or oil for baking/frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk the eggs in a shallow bowl. Place flour in a separate bowl. Combine crushed dill pickle chips, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dill, and black pepper in a third bowl.
  2. Coat Cheese Sticks: Roll each cheese stick in flour, dip in the egg, then coat thoroughly with the dill pickle chip mixture. Place on the prepared baking sheet. For best results, freeze the coated sticks for 30 minutes.
  3. To Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly spray the cheese sticks with cooking spray and bake for 8–10 minutes until golden and melty inside.
  4. To Air Fry: Cook at 380°F for 6–8 minutes.
  5. To Fry: Heat oil to 350°F, fry for 1–2 minutes until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.

Notes

  • Serve hot with ranch, marinara, or spicy mayo.
  • Freezing before cooking helps prevent cheese from oozing out.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and chips.
