Description

This Dijon Salmon with Lemon Dijon Sauce is a flavorful and healthy main course featuring tender baked salmon fillets coated in a tangy Dijon mustard mixture and topped with a creamy lemon dijon sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this recipe combines simple ingredients for a delicious meal rich in protein and bright citrus flavors.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon Dijon Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil to prevent sticking and easing clean-up.
  2. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and place them skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet to ensure even cooking and crispy skin.
  3. Make the mustard coating: In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until fully combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet, which will infuse the fish with tangy, savory flavors as it bakes.
  4. Bake the salmon: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily when tested with a fork, indicating it is perfectly cooked.
  5. Prepare the lemon dijon sauce: While the salmon bakes, combine Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and whisk until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning according to taste.
  6. Serve: Once the salmon is done, serve warm, drizzled generously with the lemon dijon sauce and garnished with chopped fresh parsley for a fresh finish.

Notes

  • This dish pairs beautifully with roasted vegetables, rice, or a simple green salad, making it a versatile meal.
  • The lemon dijon sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for convenience.
