Ingredients
Rolling Dough
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
Sausage Filling
- 1/2 lb breakfast sausage, crumbled
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Finish
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drain any excess fat and set the cooked sausage aside.
- Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Assemble the Rolls: Place a spoonful of the cooked sausage in the center of each crescent roll triangle. Add a pinch of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the sausage.
- Roll and Seal: Starting from the wide end of each triangle, roll up the dough to form a crescent shape. Pinch the edges securely to seal in the filling.
- Egg Wash: Brush the beaten egg evenly over each roll to achieve a golden, glossy surface once baked.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm. Enjoy your savory breakfast sausage crescent rolls fresh out of the oven!
Notes
- Make sure to drain excess fat from the cooked sausage for a less greasy filling.
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for different flavors.
- For extra flavor, add chopped onions or bell peppers to the sausage while cooking.
- These rolls are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes if needed.
