Description
These Deep-Fried Shrimp Alfredo Burrito Bites combine succulent shrimp tossed in creamy Alfredo sauce and melted cheese, all wrapped in soft flour tortillas, then deep-fried to golden perfection for a crispy, indulgent appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
Shrimp Alfredo Filling
- 1/2 lb small shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup Alfredo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Italian blend cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Assembly & Frying
- 8–10 small flour tortillas (street taco size)
- Oil, for deep frying
Instructions
- Cook garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Cook shrimp: Add shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook shrimp for 3–4 minutes, until they turn pink and are just opaque. Remove skillet from heat.
- Combine Alfredo mixture: Stir Alfredo sauce, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan cheese into the cooked shrimp in the skillet until the ingredients are well coated and combined.
- Assemble burrito bites: Place a spoonful of the shrimp Alfredo mixture into the center of each tortilla. Roll the tortilla tightly into a small burrito shape. Secure with toothpicks if needed to keep them closed during frying.
- Heat frying oil: Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy pan to 350°F (175°C). Use enough oil to fully submerge the burrito bites.
- Deep fry burrito bites: Carefully lower the burrito bites into the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each batch for 2–3 minutes or until the outside is golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and serve: Use a slotted spoon to remove the burrito bites from the oil. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Remove toothpicks before serving.
- Serve: Enjoy hot with extra Alfredo sauce or marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Be sure to not overfill the tortillas to prevent bursting during frying.
- Maintain oil temperature to ensure even frying and avoid greasy burrito bites.
- Leftover burrito bites can be reheated in an oven or air fryer for best crispiness.
- To make it spicier, increase the red pepper flakes or add hot sauce into the Alfredo mixture.
- You can substitute flour tortillas with gluten-free tortillas for a gluten-free version.
