Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 325°F (160°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats and chopped almonds evenly.
- Heat wet ingredients: In a small saucepan, gently heat the honey and melted coconut oil together until fully combined and melted. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Combine mixtures: Pour the honey and oil mixture over the oats and almonds. Stir thoroughly to coat all dry ingredients evenly.
- Spread on baking sheet: Transfer the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and press firmly to create an even layer.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes until the bars turn golden brown. Remove and allow to cool completely to set.
- Shape the bars: Once cooled, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the mixture into heart-shaped bars.
- Add toppings: Drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the shaped bars, then sprinkle with chopped dried cranberries for a decorative and flavorful finish.
Notes
- Make sure the mixture is fully cooled before cutting to prevent crumbling.
- Use parchment paper to easily lift the bars after baking.
- You can substitute almonds with walnuts or pecans based on preference.
- Store bars in an airtight container for up to one week.
- For a nut-free option, replace almonds with additional oats or seeds.
