Description

A rich, tangy, and savory hot dog chili made in the crockpot, perfect for topping hot dogs, burgers, fries, and more.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10 preferred)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp onion powder or 1 tbsp minced onion

Instructions

  1. Place ground beef and water in a skillet over medium heat. Cook, breaking up the meat into fine crumbles.
  2. Drain excess grease and transfer the beef to a slow cooker.
  3. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and onion powder. Stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 2½ hours.
  5. Stir before serving and spoon over hot dogs, fries, burgers, or nachos.

Notes

  • Add cayenne or hot sauce for more heat.
  • Brown sugar adds a sweet twist.
  • Smoked paprika or liquid smoke brings a smoky depth.
  • Swap some beef with ground pork or turkey for variety.
  • Vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms can add texture and nutrition.
