Ingredients
Mushrooms:
1 pound button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed,
Breading:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper,
Egg Wash:
2 large eggs, 2 tablespoons milk,
Coating:
1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, vegetable oil for frying, ranch or marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Prep the Mushrooms: Pat mushrooms dry with paper towels.
- Prepare Breading Stations: In separate bowls, set up flour mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper; whisked eggs with milk; and panko breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese.
- Bread the Mushrooms: Dredge mushrooms in flour, dip in egg wash, coat in breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Fry the Mushrooms: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Enjoy hot with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a lighter option, bake breaded mushrooms at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
