Description

Deliciously crispy baked potatoes with a perfectly tender inside, seasoned with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, and a touch of salt and pepper. This easy oven-baked recipe yields a classic side dish that’s ideal for any meal, garnished with fresh parsley or chives for an extra burst of flavor.

Ingredients

Potatoes

  • 4 medium-sized russet potatoes

Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Prepare Potatoes: Wash and scrub the russet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Pat them completely dry with a kitchen towel to ensure they crisp up during baking.
  3. Season Potatoes: Use a fork to poke holes all over each potato, allowing steam to escape during baking. Coat each potato evenly with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika as desired, ensuring all sides are well seasoned.
  4. Bake Potatoes: Place the seasoned potatoes on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, flipping the potatoes halfway through the cooking time to promote even crispiness on all sides. The skins should be crispy and the insides tender when done.
  5. Serve: Remove the potatoes from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Slice each potato open, fluff the inside with a fork, and garnish with fresh parsley or chives. Serve hot with your preferred toppings.

Notes

  • For extra crispy skin, ensure the potatoes are completely dry before applying oil.
  • Flipping the potatoes halfway through baking helps achieve uniform crispiness.
  • Optional spices like garlic powder and paprika add flavor but can be omitted or substituted based on preference.
  • Russet potatoes are ideal for baking due to their high starch content and fluffy texture.
  • Serve with toppings such as sour cream, cheese, butter, or chives for added flavor.
