Description

Crescent Roll Taco Cups are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer combining seasoned ground beef and melted cheese baked inside flaky crescent roll dough. Topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, olives, sour cream, and cilantro, these bite-sized taco cups are perfect for entertaining or a fun snack.

Ingredients

Crescent Roll Cups

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Muffin Tin: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a standard muffin tin to prevent sticking.
  2. Shape Crescent Dough: Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles and press one triangle into each muffin cup, gently pressing to cover both the bottom and sides to form a cup shape.
  3. Cook Ground Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking the meat apart as it cooks evenly.
  4. Season Beef: Drain any excess grease from the cooked beef. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Fill Crescent Cups: Evenly spoon the seasoned beef filling into each of the crescent-lined muffin cups.
  6. Add Cheese: Sprinkle cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses evenly over the beef filling in each cup.
  7. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
  8. Cool and Add Toppings: Remove the taco cups from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Top each cup with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives if using, a dollop of sour cream, and chopped fresh cilantro.
  9. Serve: Serve warm as a tasty appetizer or snack, optionally accompanied by salsa or guacamole.

Notes

  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for the ground beef for a leaner option.
  • Serve with salsa or guacamole on the side to add more flavor and variety.
  • Black olives and cilantro are optional toppings that add extra flavor and freshness.
  • Ensure to grease the muffin tin well to prevent the crescent rolls from sticking.
