Description

These Crescent Roll Can Cheese Danishes are quick and easy to make, featuring creamy sweetened cream cheese filling wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough. Topped with a simple vanilla glaze, they are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a delightful dessert in just 22 minutes.

Ingredients

Crescent Roll Dough

  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Egg Wash (Optional)

  • 1 egg

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Crescent Roll Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles. Pinch the perforations together on each triangle to form a solid piece of dough to help create a better shape for the danishes.
  4. Shape the Danishes: On the prepared baking sheet, place each piece of dough into a ring shape or slightly elongated oval. Leave a little space between each one. Spoon a small amount of the cream cheese filling onto the center of each dough piece.
  5. Add an Egg Wash (Optional): If you want a golden and glossy finish, beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the edges of the crescent dough with the egg wash.
  6. Bake: Bake the danishes in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
  7. Make the Glaze: While the danishes are baking, whisk together 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1-2 tsp milk, and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract in a small bowl to create the glaze. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary; the glaze should be thick but pourable.
  8. Finish the Danishes: Once the danishes are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze over the top of each warm danish.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to ensure a smooth filling.
  • Pinch the perforations in the crescent dough to prevent the filling from leaking out while baking.
  • The egg wash is optional but adds a beautiful golden color and shine to the danishes.
  • Adjust the glaze consistency with milk to your preference for thicker or thinner coverage.
  • Serve warm for the best experience, though these danishes also taste great at room temperature.
