Description

Indulge in the rich and comforting flavors of this Creamy Tuna Mushroom Pasta. A satisfying dish that combines tender mushrooms, savory tuna, and a luscious cream sauce, all tossed with perfectly cooked pasta. This recipe is a great way to elevate your weeknight dinner with minimal effort and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Pasta:

  • 12 ounces pasta (such as penne or fusilli)

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 ounces mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Additional:

  • 2 (5-ounce) cans tuna in olive oil (drained)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté aromatics: In a skillet, sauté onions until soft, then add garlic and mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms are browned.
  3. Season and simmer: Season with thyme, salt, and pepper. Add broth, simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Add cream: Reduce heat, stir in cream, and cook until slightly thickened.
  5. Combine ingredients: Add tuna, cooked pasta, and Parmesan. Toss everything together.
  6. Finish and serve: Cook briefly to coat, then serve warm, garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of cream.
  • You can also substitute tuna with canned salmon or shredded rotisserie chicken.
