This classic Creamy Southern Coleslaw brings together crisp cabbage, sweet carrots, and a rich, tangy-sweet dressing for the ultimate side dish to barbecue, fried chicken, or sandwiches.
Ingredients
- 1 medium green cabbage, finely shredded
- 2 large carrots, grated
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp celery seed
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Shred cabbage and carrots using a sharp knife, mandolin, or box grater. Place in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, celery seed, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots. Toss well until all the vegetables are evenly coated.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld and cabbage to soften slightly.

- For convenience, use bagged coleslaw mix if short on time.
