Description

This Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta is a delightful and quick dinner option featuring tender shrimp sautéed in a rich, creamy garlic sauce, tossed with perfectly cooked spaghetti for a comforting and flavorful meal perfect for weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz spaghetti or linguine

Shrimp and Sauce

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or linguine and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper and add to the skillet. Cook until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet with the shrimp and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Make the sauce: Pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously. Allow it to simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  5. Add cheese and seasoning: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning into the sauce until smooth and well combined.
  6. Combine pasta and sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss well with the shrimp and creamy sauce to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley on top for color and added flavor. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor, but frozen shrimp can be substituted if thawed properly.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a cream alternative.
  • Parmesan cheese is key to the creamy texture and depth of flavor; freshly grated cheese is preferred over pre-grated.
  • Adjust garlic quantity based on your preference for garlicky flavor.
  • Serve with a side of garlic bread or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
